I look at the little children growing and developing in the urban area in which I had once resided as a child. Things are so different. There are many opportunities that exist that did not in the early 70's.There are many literacy programs in the libraries geared for children and families. There are early education programs available such as Head Start. There are numerous food resources to assist children and families in need. There are several social service organizations in the communities. There is growth and more accessibility to resources than ever.
The one thing that paints a blurry picture is the utilization of the available resources. How do we get all of the children and families connected to the resources? How do we create better system to get the children and families the resources needed for positive outcomes? These will be questions to be answered not by one person. This will definitely be a group/team effort to brainstorm ideas to reduce the disparity in services for those in need!
