"Playing" with Friends

"Playing" with friends was my life as a child. Everyday my friends would come over and wait for me to come outdoors after school and completing my homework. We would play games of: kickball, tag, hide and seek, school, any bounce, etc. I was very athletic. I got along really well with my friends. My friends and I would sometimes go with each other’s families on road trips. It was a great time in my life. Little did I know that progressing through the continuum of development? The physical, social, emotional, communication-language and cognitive abilities were developing as I interacted with peers. All of these things were going on and I thought I was just having fun as a child. "Play" brings out the best in a kid!

Isn’t it sad that those days are gone. Now you “play” on line. You friends are talked to via phone.

Yes, it is sad. Texting and phone technology have taken away the personal aspects of friendship. What kind of “social beings” will society be in the next 5 years?
